You may have seen in the news this week that being a member of Scouts or Guides as a child can decrease a person’s chances of suffering with poor mental health as an adult by 15%. It comes as no surprise to those of us who work with the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers as we see them develop over the years they are with us, gaining in self-confidence and building valuable life skills. We’d love to offer Scouting to more young people in Cranleigh, but we don’t have enough adult leaders, so if you want to get involved and help us build the next generation, please contact me!
Ottawa Beavers have had a busy half-term earning their Creative badge. We have made finger puppets (Minions), sock puppets and decorated plates. Tonight we finished with a comedy puppet show which was great fun both to perform and watch. Well done Ottawa!
This years St Georges Day parade is on Sunday 24 April at Guildford Cathedral. We need to be assembled by 2:15pm so we can march to the Cathedral in time for the service at 3pm. Collection will be from outside the Cathedral entrance at 4pm.
Please park in the pay and display car parks near the old ivy covered sports centre and we’ll assemble on the road outside in our groups.
Can you please ensure that your Beaver/Cub/Scout is wearing full uniform with smart black shoes. Coats will only be permitted in the case of heavy rain, so like Remembrance Day, please ensure they are wearing enough layers under their tops to remain warm.
Any questions, please just as your section leaders.
Rocky Mountain Beavers are restarting on Monday 18 April at their usual time.
Ottawa Beavers are restarting on Wednesday 20 April at their usual time.
St Lawrence Beavers are returning on TUESDAY 19 April in the CRANLEIGH Scout HQ – NOT the Ewhurst HQ we were using last term. Normal times, just a new location and day. Any questions please contact me.
Group Scout Leader
Each year our Scout Group takes the opportunity of raising monies by organising watering stages for this local run. There are usually about 800 runners who take part – most of them in preparation for the London Marathon.
To be at a water station is great fun especially for small kiddies who like poring water into cups.
So please send me an email on firstname.lastname@example.org or a text on 07973 229052 to take part. It all kicks off at 8.00am and finish around midday. I will be calling parents shortly to chase you all up.
